REPORT ON THE CHRISTMAS PARTY HELD AT DANAI GROUP HOME BY IDEA TRUST

PURPOSE OF THE VISIT : CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR THE CHILDREN
As a part of social activities done by IDEA Trust, the team visited DANAI Group Home on the 21st of December 2019. The team had brought some goodies and Christmas presents for the children. Children’s Homes are an important part of our society as they give children the kind of upbringing, they need regardless of their family situations. The kind of care given to the children at Children’s Home varies depending on their age.
The Team was welcomed by the staff and they introduced themselves. We had an opening prayer by one of our volunteers and the team also introduced themselves. The atmosphere was all laughter and fun as everyone begins warm-up towards each other. On behalf of IDEA Trust, the Founder Mr. Blessing Phiri gave a speech as he shared with the children and the stuff about IDEA Trust. After the introductions, the volunteers prepared some snacks for the children and the staff. We then headed to games, the children had face painting by Ajigija and were given balloons each. There was a variety of music in which the children had the chance to select and play their favorite songs.
The volunteers joined the children in dancing. Their singing and dancing really made everyone feel very joyful. They also played games such as Maflawu together with the kids, the team returned to their childhood when they joined this fresh and lively game. The volunteers really showed their love toward the children. All the kids were so eager to be with the volunteers as if they met their relatives. They prepared a delicious lunch for the kids and the stuff which they really liked and thanked the team for the food.
The team led by Mr. Blessing Phiri presented the gifts to the Home. The gifts included food groceries, sanitary, clothes, shoes and school stationery. The love from the sponsors and the volunteers was demonstrated by the gifts they had brought for the children.
We were later welcomed by the Director for Danai Group Home Mrs. Egiphah Kusangaya. She shared with the team the foundation of the Home and the general upkeep of the children at the Home. She also took us on a tour showing us the Home. It is beautifully built with a family-friendly setup, they have everything a home should have including a common room for Computers and games. Mrs. Kusangaya prayed for everyone as we were leaving the Home. As normal as it is, the goodbyes were hard. The feelings and emotions were mixed and they will stay with us for a lifetime!
